One-shot snipers have finally made their return to Warzone 2, although it’s far more limited than we had hoped.
Anyone who played the original Warzone will know just how brutal snipers were during that game’s run. It seems even the developers knew that the snipers were bustedm as Warzone 2 removed one-shot sniper rifles entirely after they had already been significantly nerfed during the Call of Duty Vanguard era of Warzone. However, this had the opposite effect, effectively killing snipers in the meta.
Call of Duty fans were excited to hear that Infinity Ward teased the return of one-shot (via @charlieINTEL on Twitter) in Warzone 2 Season 2 Reloaded. Although it came with the caveat that the return wasn’t planned as a full-scale return over every game mode. Now we know, thanks to a strong hint from the @InfinityWard Twitter account, that the Shillelagh one-shot sniper rifle has finally made its debut as part of the St Patrick's Day event.
We’re here to tell you how you can find this fabled rifle, but you can also watch our very own Mirror Gaming teammates Jasmine Mannan and Nathan Bliss attempt to get it for themselves below.
Warzone 2: where to find the Shillelagh one-shot sniper rifle
Once you drop into Al Mazrah or Ashika Island you should be able to see a rainbow in the distance. I think you know where this is going. If you make your way to the end of the rainbow you sadly won’t find a pot of gold, but you will find a selection of goodies. Several gold chests full of high-level items including the Shillelagh one-shot sniper rifle await you there.
The Shillelagh one-shot sniper rifle is a Blueprint of the Victus XMR sniper rifle, with a fancy St Patrick's Day-themed green and gold colour scheme. It will one-shot your enemies with a single headshot even if they are fully armoured, and body shots will make a significant dent too. Good luck getting it, however, as it’s very likely that 90% of the players in your lobby will make a beeline straight to the end of the rainbow for the gun.
While nothing has been announced, many are speculating that this event is sort of a testing ground for bringing one-shot snipers back to Warzone 2. Hopefully, Infinity Ward finds a nice balance between the busted sniping of the original Warzone and the weak sniping of Warzone 2.
There isn’t a confirmed end date for the event right now, but based on previous Warzone 2 events we’ll at the very least have this weekend to enjoy the return.
