Most Wanted contracts have been disabled in Call of Duty: Warzone 2 temporarily, Activision has confirmed.
Despite its positive reception, Call of Duty: Warzone 2 hasn't enjoyed the smoothest of launches from a technical perspective, with the game having its fair share of bugs since it was released last week. The Social menu bug was the first major issue, with players having problems with party invites, although a workaround was quickly discovered before it was finally fixed.
This newly discovered glitch is an XP exploit was was occurring in Warzone 2's with Most Wanted contracts, giving out double XP. It involved starting a Most Wanted contract, waiting until the clock ran down to zero, and then quickly opening a loot crate as soon as the contract was completed.
This exploit gave players almost 14,000 XP points, without any additional XP tokens. As you'd imagine, it was soon taken advantage of to level up fast, unlock new weapons, and burn through the Warzone 2 Battle Pass as quickly as possible.
If you were hoping to get in on the action, it's too late. Raven Software has confirmed that Most Wanted contracts have been temporarily removed from Warzone 2.0 entirely, as it investigates the issue, which has been logged over on the public Trello board for gameplay issues. The developer hasn't confirmed that this decision is related to the exploit, but that's almost certainly the case. It'll also be interesting to see what – if anything – will happen to the players who partook of the illicit XP gains.
The ticket which detailed the bug was last updated at 9.40pm GMT / 4.40pm ET / 1.40pm PT on Sunday, November 20, with no update yet as to when Most Wanted contracts will be added back into Warzone 2.0.
Most Wanted contracts are just one of the ways players can earn XP and in-game cash in Warzone 2.0. Once the contract is found and accepted, players are tasked to avoid being eliminated for three minutes. During this window, their location is public for all other players on the map, so it's one of the riskier contracts in Warzone 2.0. Most players who accept a Most Wanted contract have access to a vehicle, like a car or a helicopter, which makes it much easier to evade bounty hunters chasing them.
In addition to the XP and in-game cash, players who've completed a Most Wanted contract can also buy previously eliminated teammates back for free, something that normally costs $4000 from a Buy Station in-game.
