After an eventful week at training camp, the Golden State Warriors finally opened the doors to Chase Center for the first time since the 2022 NBA Finals for a preseason contest against the Los Angeles Lakers on Sunday night.
Heading into their contest against the Lakers, the Warriors boasted a perfect 2-0 record in the preseason after two wins over the Washington Wizards in Japan.
While Draymond Green, Klay Thompson and Andre Iguodala didn’t suit up, started like Steph Curry, Andrew Wiggins, Jordan Poole and Kevon Looney all played over 20 minutes for the Warriors.
Curry and Poole combined for 49 points to lead the Warriors against the Lakers. Curry notched 24 points on 9-of-18 shooting from the floor with four rebounds and four assists in 25 minutes on Sunday night.
Poole led the Warriors with 25 points on 10-of-19 shooting from the field with a trio of triples, six assists and four rebounds in 23 minutes. Poole heated up in the third quarter, scoring 18 of his points in a single frame.
James Wiseman continued his strong preseason with 13 points on 5-of-7 shooting from the floor with six boards and an assist in 18 minutes off the bench.
However, it wasn’t enough to slow down Anthony Davis and the Lakers. Davis tallied a game-high 28 points on 9-of-18 shooting from the floor with three rebounds and three assists in 21 minutes. Kendrick Nunn added 21 points off the bench to help seal the Lakers’ win, 124-121.
Following a loss to the Lakers, the Warriors will be back at Chase Center for another preseason contest against the Train Blazers on Tuesday night.
