The 2022 NBA Summer League kicked off with the California Classic on Saturday night. The Warriors began play starting off against the Sacramento Kings. The Kings got to take a look at what Keegan Murray could do and likewise, the Warriors got a chance to look at second-round pick Gui Santos.
Both guys had great games and showed a lot of potential. Murray had 26 points and eight boards. Gui Santos had 23 points and six rebounds to counter Murray. While the Warriors had trouble putting offense together, they had success giving Santos the rock.
Santos had a great game and showed off elite finishing and versatility. He needs to work on defense and get a little stronger, but he looked like a long-term solution to losing Nemanja Bjelica. A great rotation piece that can space the floor and score in a load of different ways.
The Warriors were missing several young pieces in this game including Jonathan Kuminga, James Wiseman and this year’s first-round pick Patrick Baldwin Jr. The future is looking very bright for this young Warriors team that could really turn some heads going forward.
