Warnings as rail strikes set to cause disruption

A warning has been issued about travel disruption as rail strikes are set to take place tomorrow [Saturday 26 November]. Transport for Greater Manchester say services may be busier tonight and on Sunday.

In a social media post, TGFM suggested passengers should regularly check the status of their journey before travelling and be prepared for services to be busy.

The transport body issued the warning on Twitter saying: 'Strike action is set to take place across the rail network tomorrow [Saturday 26 November]. As a result, services today and on Sunday are expected to be busier. Ensure you regularly check the status of your journey before travelling."

Last month, three days of planned strikes by railway workers were suspended at the 11th hour. Members of the Rail, Maritime and Transport union (RMT) had been due to stage 24-hour walkouts but the action was suspended after the RMT said it has secured “unconditional” talks on Network Rail (NR) and the promise of a pay offer from the train operating companies.
