Warning to parents after dingo attacks four-year-old

Rangers on K'gari have increased patrols on the Queensland island after a dingo bit a child. (HANDOUT/QUEENSLAND GOVERNMENT – DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENT AND SCIENCE)

A child has been bitten by a tagged female dingo at a popular tourist destination, prompting rangers to urge parents to be vigilant and stay close to their children.

The dingo charged two children, aged four and 12, who were swimming in shallow water in Lake McKenzie (Boorangoora) at K'gari, formerly Fraser Island, in Queensland on Thursday.
