Air fryers have soared in popularity in the past year, with people wowed by the quick results you can get for things like oven chips.
With this in mind, it can be tempting to think you can cook anything in the handy appliance. And with Pancake Day (21 February) just around the corner, air frying instead of pan frying your pancakes may seem like a simple swap.
However, users on TikTok have warned it doesn't work, after a video posted by retail giant Currys showing the 'hack' went viral and had to be deleted. So, it looks like we'll have to stick to traditional pan frying this Pancake Day.

In one video, Mike (@isthatmike03) tries out the hack. He said: "Obviously we all know by now that this is fake. But like, I still kind of want to try it. I know it's fake but I'm just curious what would actually happen."
Mike can then be seen pouring pancake batter into his air fryer, with sheets of baking parchment in-between each one.
As he does, he said: "I feel like I'm going to regret this. This is actually so stupid."

After cooking them for eight minutes, Mike reveals the results, which are pale, colourless pancakes, while the ones at the bottom of the stack remained raw. Mike tries the one at the top, and said: "Don't hate me, but this is not bad, if I add some butter and jam it would be ok.
"But it definitely isn't some golden brown perfect pancake."
People in the comments found his attempt hilarious, with one person commenting: "it doesn't have any colour" with a crying emoji. Others had suggestions for how to improve the hack, with one saying: "try greasing the baking parchment with melted butter".
