Warning over 'impact' of roadworks on Mansfield Road near to new housing estate in Arnold

Roadworks on the busy A60 Mansfield Road will have a noticeable impact on traffic, a senior councillor has said.

Traffic restrictions were been put in place at the road's junction with Redhill Road, near the new housing development on the former Metallifacture site, as of Thursday, February 24.

Restrictions will continue until March 2 while electricity ducting and a new gas main are installed.

People had already raised concerns over 'ridiculous' traffic in the area as 72 homes are built.

There will be a contra-flow system in place between February 24 and February 25, while temporary two-way signals will be installed between February 26 and February 27.

The contra-flow system will then return from February 28 and remain until March 2.

Labour councillor Michael Payne, the deputy leader of Gedling Borough Council who represents Redhill, said: "Please note I was only informed of these traffic restrictions a few hours ago, which I’ve made clear is unsatisfactory.

"I have asked for further information on specific details of the traffic restrictions and will share as and when I receive them.

"Those of us who use this road daily will definitely notice the impact on traffic flow for the duration of the works."
