People are being urged to look out for the signs of ‘honour’-based abuse across Merseyside.
Experts say the signs include individuals being accompanied at all times by a family member, presenting a fear of being taken abroad or requesting extended leave during a school term, or a sudden announcement of an engagement or marriage without any consent.
Savera UK, a Merseyside-based charity, took to the streets of Liverpool on Friday last week to campaign to eliminate honour-based abuse and harmful practices such as female genital mutilation (FGM) and forced marriage.
