Tesco and Morrisons have cut the size of their ready meals while Sainsbury's and Asda have put up their prices, according to new research. Every Tesco own-brand ready meal has been reduced in weight by 50g while prices have stayed the same - or in some cases have been put up, according to The Grocer.
Research using date from Assosia data shows Tesco ready mneals have swapped from 450g to 400g and from 800g to 750g. Despite shrinking in size, The Grocer givesTesco Sweet Potato Red Thai Curry & Jasmine Rice as one product that is more expensive - with 5p added to the ticket.
The data also shows Morrisons has swapped many of its 450g ready meals for 400g versions, while the prices of some have gone up from £2.75 to £3.49.
