A local Facebook page for the Hebrides has warned beachgoers after a Portuguese Man O’War, which is known to have a painful sting, was discovered on a beach on the Isle of Harris. The venomous creature was spotted by a local on Nisabost beach on the western coast of the beautiful Hebridean island.
Also known as Bluebottles, the jellyfish-like marine animal has coiled tentacles which stretch out far below them in the water and have very powerful and painful venom.
Posting a pic of the creature on their page, Immerse Hebrides wrote: "This comes with a wee bit of a warning I’m afraid. Today on Nisabost beach a Portuguese Man O’War was found by Rachel Plant.
