Wanted man was member of crew that terrorised families with axes and guns

A Liverpool man wanted by police was a member of a violent robbery gang that threatened women and children in their homes.

Police have said that Jason Nee, now 32, is wanted on recall to prison for breaching the terms of his license.

Nee was jailed in 2017 for his role in a gang that flooded Warrington with drugs.

However the ECHO can now reveal that Nee is a former member of a notorious robbery gang that stormed family homes across the city.

The five strong Huyton based gang targeted family homes and shops, attacking terrified victims with knives and threatening them with guns.

Nee, then 21, was jailed for eight years for his role in the crime wave.

Many of the victims were relaxing with their families at the end of a long day at work when the thugs came storming through patio doors.

A woman, 51, was told she would be killed while her son was stabbed in the leg and chest in their Knowsley home.

A 14-year-old boy was threatened with a shotgun in his own home as he watched television. During a separate robbery the gang dragged a woman around her home by the hair.

In one incident the men threatened to chop a pensioner's hand off.

The crime wave began in 2009 and continued into 2010.

Over a two month period they carried out 27 burglaries stealing a high-powered Vauxhall, a top-of-the range VW Golf, an Audi, a couple of 4x4s, a BMW and a Honda.

The owners were all put through horrendous ordeals.

On one occasion a man was hit in the face with a claw hammer as he fought with the men on the threshold of his home.

A baby was also hurt by flying glass as the men smashed their way through patio doors.

They struck in West Derby, Woolton, Childwall, Croxteth, Gateacre, Bootle, Huyton, Prescot, Maghull, St Helens, Whiston, Lancashire and North Wales.

Police assembled a crack team of detectives to track down the gang.

The chase that led to their arrest began when the police helicopter spotted a stolen VW Golf R32 resulting in a high-speed pursuit through the city until the gang made their bid to escape.

Nee and some of his associates were found hiding in a cupboard in the ladies’ toilet in the Granada Bingo Hall, known locally as Bugsy’s, in Dovecot.

One of the gang members was tasered in the genitals when police stormed homes looking for other suspects.

The five defendants were jailed for a total of 40 years during a hearing at Liverpool Crown Court in 2011.

The men had all pleaded guilty to conspiring to commit burglary and aggravated burglary.

Sentencing the gang Judge John Roberts said: “This was a wide ranging conspiracy where young men were out of control, on the rampage and came to terrorise their victims at home.

“It was done in the belief they could do what they want with impunity.

“These burglaries were truly shocking.”

After the sentencing victims of the gang expressed their disappointment to the ECHO.

One man said: "I was stabbed four times and threatened with an axe and a gun.

“The sentence was 100% wrong.”

Nee has now been subject to a fresh appeal by police.

A spokesperson said: "We are appealing for help in finding a 32-year-old man who is wanted on a recall to prison for breach of his licence conditions.

"Jason Nee, from Liverpool, has breached his licence conditions following his release after serving a sentence for drug offences.

"He is described as 5ft, 10in tall of medium build with brown eyes and short brown hair. Nee speaks with a Liverpool accent."
