Five years after former Rangers and Scotland manager Walter Smith died following a battle with cancer, his widow Ethel has chosen to honour his memory by directing a £50,000 charitable donation to the hospital unit that cared for him. The gift, made through the Emmie Smillie Foundation, was presented to the cancer unit at Vale of Leven Hospital in Alexandria, Scotland, on October 26, 2026, the fifth anniversary of his death.
