Aardman Animations co-founder Peter Lord has confirmed that the next Wallace and Gromit movie will feature a robotic gnome as the villain. The movie, expected to be released by Netflix this Christmas, will take place in Wallaceland, a setting characterized by industrial buildings, terraces, and canals. In this adventure, Wallace has gone overboard with inventing machines for various purposes, including a robotic gnome.
The plot will revolve around Gromit's concern about Wallace's reliance on his inventions, which proves valid when the robotic gnome gains sentience. As usual, it falls to Gromit to overcome his reservations and thwart the emerging threat posed by the smart gnome.
The untitled Wallace and Gromit movie, likely to feature a pun in its name, will be directed by Nick Park and Merlin Crossingham, with Mark Burton penning the script. While the cast has not been revealed, it is anticipated that Ben Whitehead will continue voicing Wallace following the passing of Peter Sallis in 2017.
Lord also shared insights into an abandoned concept for the recent Aardman sequel, 'Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget,' hinting at a potential idea for 'Chicken Run 3.' The sequel, released by Netflix last year, follows Ginger and Rocky living peacefully on an island sanctuary until a new threat emerges for all chickens.
'Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget' was directed by Sam Fell and features Thandiwe Newton as Ginger and Zachary Levi as Rocky, alongside a talented ensemble cast. The movie is available for streaming on Netflix, while fans eagerly await the upcoming Wallace and Gromit installment set to hit screens later this year.
