Wall Street Faces a Choppy Columbus Day as Bond Markets Shut and Inflation Fears Mount

US stock markets will trade as normal on Monday even as most US bond markets shut for Columbus Day, leaving Wall Street to navigate a key inflation week with fewer cues from Treasuries, rising long-term yields and higher oil prices.

The New York Stock Exchange and Nasdaq are open for their usual hours, 9.30am to 4pm Eastern Time. The Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association (Sifma), however, recommends that the fixed-income markets it covers close for the federal holiday. The guidance is advisory rather than binding and individual firms decide whether their bond desks stay open. Cash Treasury securities and Treasury futures are separate markets and their schedules differ.
