Walking Dead actress Alicia Witt has broken her silence after the shocking death of her beloved parents who were tragically found dead in their Massachusetts home one month ago.
The 46-year-old actress issued a heartbreaking statement on Facebook as she updated fans on her late parents Robert and Diane.
In the tear-jerking post, Alicia revealed that her parents died from hypothermia after their heat went out in their run-down home.
Alicia had offered to help her parents for a number of years, but they continued to deny her offers and wouldn't allow her to step inside their dilapidated home for over a decade.
The devastated actress penned: "My parents were not penniless. They were fiercely stubborn, beautifully original souls, and with that, they made choices - choices that I couldn’t talk them out of.
"I did help them, in all the ways I could - in all the ways they would let me.
"I had no idea that their heat had gone out. I will never understand how or why they made the choice not to tell me this, not to let me help them with this. My heart is broken."
She also shared that she had not been allowed in their house for 'well over 10 years' and didn't know how bad their situation had gotten.
The devastated daughter shared several throwback photos with her parents as she remembered them in the gushing tribute.
"They were brilliant educators, deeply kind, curious, intuitive, wise, young at heart, funny - there will never be enough adjectives to describe them," she said of her parents.
The star then turned her attention to the stories that have come out about her beloved parents.
"The circumstances around my parents’ sudden passings have become fodder for press, and there are some misconceptions rolling around - understandably so," she penned.
"This is very delicate for me to write because I'm wanting to honor their privacy, which they held so tightly."
The Dune actress asked a relative to check on her father Robert, 87, and mother Diane, 75, at their Worcester, Massachusetts home as she had not heard from them.
On December 22, Alicia said in a statement: “I reached out to a cousin who lives close to my parents to check on them. Sadly, the outcome was unimaginable.
“I ask for some privacy at this time to grieve and to wrap my head around this turn of events, and this surreal loss.”
The Two Weeks Notice star began her career in the 80s as a child artist.
Alicia has also starred in shows such as The Walking Dead, Sopranos, Two and a Half Men, and Orange Is the New Black.
As well as her TV and film career, Alicia has taken to the stage on Broadway while also continuing to sing and play the piano.
