'Walking dead': plastic ingestion's seabird impact

Plastic pollution in the world's oceans is leading to a long-term decline in seabird populations, with juveniles exhibiting dementia-like symptoms, new research says.

A 15-year study of sable shearwaters has also shown the bird's complex song repertoire - which helps adults find their way back to their own nesting burrows and chicks - is impaired, reducing breeding success.
