Michigan State picked up their first win of Harlon Barnett’s tenure at Michigan State after defeating Nebraska 20-17 on Saturday in East Lansing.
In that game, Michigan State was led by their excelling defense, who held the Nebraska offense to 283 yards and turning the Cornhuskers over 3 times.
One of those turnovers came by way of former walk-on safety Khalil Majeed, who has stepped up in a big way in 2023.
MSU’s safety room did not have a lot of depth coming into the year, and after several injuries, the room was depleted. Majeed has stepped up and played a key role on MSU’s defense, which has been a good unit since Mel Tucker’s departure.
In the Nebraska win, Majeed recorded 4 tackles along with the interception with 6:08 remaining in the game.
Another walk-on to add into Michigan State’s legacy of building walk-ons, a list that includes Jack Conklin and Kenny Willekes, among others.
