Wales Sevens have been knocked out of quarter-final contention at the 2022 Commonwealth Games after falling to a 38-24 defeat to Olympic champions Fiji.
It was always going to be a tough ask against the South Sea Islanders, who sat top of Pool C going into the match having followed up a 52-0 win over Zambia with a hard-fought 19-12 over Canada on day one of the Games on Friday.
A spirited Wales scored four tries against Fiji on Saturday afternoon in the entertaining final pool match, with impressive Lloyd Lewis crossing twice, while Tom Williams and Morgan Williams also touched down. But, despite their skilful efforts and much-improved display, Wales finished third in pool C and do not progress into the last-eight.

Wales' quarter-final chances had already taken a heavy dent with a shock 31-0 defeat to Canada in their opening match before Richie Pugh's side bounced back to claim a comfortable 38-5 win over Zambia.
Now, Wales will battle England for ninth place. England also failed to reach the last-eight after a 20-0 defeat to New Zealand, but the damage was largely done when they lost 34-0 to Samoa in their opening match.
As for the quarter-finals, it will be New Zealand v Kenya, Australia v Samoa, Fiji v Scotland and South Africa v Canada on Saturday evening. The session starts at 5.30pm, with the medal positions then decided on Sunday.
The women's rugby Sevens semi-final draw is also complete, with Fiji facing Canada and Australia playing New Zealand in the evening session on Saturday.
