Wales rugby star Adam Beard gets married in stunning Cyprus wedding

Wales and Lions star Adam Beard has tied the knot to long-term partner Chelsea Lewis at a gorgeous ceremony in sunny Cyprus.

The newlyweds, who are parents to two sons Zac and Liam, celebrated their special day in front of their nearest and dearest at Lioptro Venue in Cyprus.

Ospreys lock Beard, 26, combined his wedding finery with shorts for the outdoor ceremony where temperatures have been reaching up to 36°C, while his bride Chelsea looked stunning in a flowing gown with her curls styled into an elegant up-do.

Beard is among a number of Wales internationals who have tied the knot since returning from the summer tour to face South Africa, with Liam Williams and Josh Navidi both having married their partners in July.

Like her new husband, mum-of-two Chelsea is no stranger to elite sport herself, having played netball for Wales - even being recalled to the national squad just two months after giving birth to son Liam in April 2021.

Beard has previously spoken about how the couple wanted to have children close in age. “They’re 11 months apart so it’s carnage at the minute,” Beard told Rugby World last year. "We were big on having two close together. Chelsea is one of three siblings all quite close in age while me and my brother have a similar age gap to our two boys.

“It’s a new job but it’s the best job ever. It’s absolutely crazy. One baby is enough, everything changes, but with two you’re always on the move and thinking ahead. You can’t just get ready and go, you have to prepare everything.

“It’s great to have the three of them in my life. When you’re in an environment that’s all rugby, to come home and see the little ones and my partner takes my mind away from things. Professional sportspeople need that distraction so you’re not constantly thinking about rugby, which can become too much."

“So many aspects of the things you go through in rugby, in training, around games, Chelsea understands,” he added. “Whereas some other partners might not understand it as well, she’s been in that environment, we’re both in sport, so she understands it and we can switch off together, have family time.”
