Wales were humiliated at Murrayfield as five-try Scotland stormed to victory in round two of the Six Nations.
It leaves Warren Gatland’s side without a win in the championship this term after their opening weekend loss to Ireland.
They were taken apart in the Scottish capital by a home team who had extra quality behind with fly-half Finn Russell on a different level. By contrast, the Welsh backs were poor, unable to make the most of what ball came their way.

Here are the Wales player ratings:
Liam Williams 4
Good Williams saw him save a try early on with a brave tackle and follow up with a turnover. Not-so-clever Williams featured a yellow card and a missed tackle on Duhan van der Merwe. Kept trying, but it wasn’t his day.
Josh Adams 5
Showed fine technique to achieve turnover, while he helped Dyer keep out Kyle Steyn with line beckoning. But Wales were blunt in attack.
George North 4
Underwent a HIA after shipping an illegal hit to the head area from George Turner. Returned and ran hard but without seriously threatening.
Joe Hawkins 5
Lovely pass released Liam Williams and later helped Biggar achieve a maul turnover. There were missed tackles, but Hawkins kept going.
Rio Dyer 5
Hot and cold. Had a strip torn off him by Biggar after loose pass in own 22 but not long after received pats on back after fine defensive work kept out Steyn. Helter skelter day continued when he failed to take back-of-hand pass from Biggar. He should have taken it. Needs to work on composure.
Dan Biggar 4
“Who the f**k do you think you are?” Biggar asked Ben White amid a mini dust-up on the half-hour mark. Wales’ fly-half found it hard to ask questions of Scotland’s defence, though. Good maul turnover, and the occasional nice kick, but the visitors’ backs posed little threat while Russell controlled matters for the Scots. One other thing: Biggar’s dressing down of Test new boy Dyer should have been kept for the sheds.

Tomos Williams 4
Wales lacked spark for much of the game and on a good day Williams would have provided it. He was busy enough but there was a defensive glitch for one of the home tries and he couldn’t put a stamp on proceedings.
Wyn Jones 6
Won a scrum penalty and was in the thick of the loose exchanges. Steady rather than spectacular.
Ken Owens 4
Welsh issues at the lineout now seem knitted into the package and there were more than a few here, some of them in promising positions. It’s an understatement to suggest they need to be sorted out. On the plus side, the captain came up with a score.
Dillon Lewis 6
A good defensive shift from the tighthead and carried without getting too far. No scrummaging alarms.
Dafydd Jenkins 6
Didn’t take long to warm to the challenge as he banged in a highly visible performance. For a 20-year-old making his first Test start, his effort was encouraging.
Adam Beard 5
Grafted hard and did come up with a few carries, but the tide was flowing the other way and Wales’ lineout wasn’t what it should be.
Christ Tshiunza 6
Made an impact on Scotland’s lineout with his ability to contest and did superbly to bring down van der Merwe in full flight. In adversity, he wasn’t the worst — far from it.
Tommy Reffell 6
Tommy Turnover lived up to his nickname with an early possession steal. The Leicester Tiger also tackled himself to a standstill, while putting in a few punchy carries. Gave it his all.
Jac Morgan 6
Stripped off ball by Pierre Schcoeman but atoned seconds later with a turnover himself. No shortage of effort and he won a couple of turnovers before being replaced in second half.
REPLACEMENTS
Scott Baldwin 6
Strong drive towards end.
Rhys Carre 7
Two immense carries; just failed to hold on to pass with line beckoning. Promising.
Leon Brown 4
Pinged for collapsing at first scrum.
Rhys Davies 5
Didn’t miss in defence.
Taulupe Faletau 6
Some good work amid the carnage.
Rhys Webb 5
Couldn’t change the narrative.
Rhys Patchell 5
Nothing too significant to report.
Alex Cuthbert 5
Took restart, fine tackle on van der Merwe, turned over, no way through.
