Wakefield Trinity prop Tinirau Arona jumped into the crowd and did a 'shoey' after helping his side secure their safety in the Betfred Super League in his final home appearance.
Arona is set to leave Wakefield at the end of the season, having spent seven years there after joining from NRL side Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks in 2015. The 33-year-old announced his impending departure before the game against Hull Kingston Rovers, tweeting: "After seven years at Wakefield, tomorrow night will be my last home game.
"I'll farewell our fans after the match with the other lads leaving. I've got nothing but respect for Michael [Carter, chief executive], John [Minards, chairman] and the board for everything they have done for my family and I.
"Michael has had my back since I first arrived at the end of 2015 and I'll be forever grateful." And after tries from Lee Kershaw, Lewis Murphy and Max Jowitt earned Wakefield an 18-6 win and ensured they would not get relegated, Arona celebrated with the fans at Belle Vue.
In clips shared on social media, Arona can be seen doing a 'shoey' with supporters amid wild cheers and applause. "Had to do a Shoey in the North Stand after my last home game," Arona tweeted.
"To all our @wtrinityrl fans, Thank You for the last 7 years! I'll miss playing in front of you all".
Arona was not the only Wakefield star playing his final home game for the club, with fellow prop David Fifita also set to leave once his contract expires at the end of the season. Speaking after the match, Fifita explained: "I spoke to the family. We've been through a tough month with a few losses.
"We've had grandparents passing away back home, it's been tough. We couldn't get home last year, I haven't been home for three years. I'm a family man and I just need to get back home to family and friends.
"I just feel the time is right. My brother [Andrew] has just come out and said he wants to play one last year, whether it's A grade or some sort of footy, I just want to play with him. I'm excited for the next chapter, I'm excited for my wife and kids, actually growing up with their cousins. I've still got nieces and nephews I've not met yet."
