'Wake up!': Manchester United fans send clear message as Erling Haaland 'passes Man City medical'

Manchester United fans have urged their club to ‘wake up’ amid reports Manchester City are closing in on Erling Haaland.

The Blues are expected to complete the signing of the Borussia Dortmund superstar, and in the process avoid a long saga during the upcoming transfer window. City have been one of a number of top European clubs to have been linked with Haaland for more than a year.

Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Barcelona and United were all touted as possible destinations alongside City, who emerged as favourites earlier this year as it became a two-horse race between themselves and Real. And the Blues look to have pulled clear of their Champions League conquerors, with a deal looking set to be done and dusted soon after the striker reportedly completed a medical.

The transfer would be quite the coup for City, who will be getting one of the world’s hottest prospects. Furthermore, they look likely to avoid a long, drawn-out process with Dortmund and themselves preferring to conduct business early in the summer.

That leaves many of their rivals to look on enviously, particularly United supporters. After what has been a dismal season at Old Trafford, many fans are desperate to see the Reds get down to work ahead of Erik ten Hag’s arrival as manager, and seeing their neighbours close in on a huge signing isn’t helping their patience.

The sight of Haaland heading to City will no doubt hurt United fans, with many rivals supporters seeing the Norwegian’s arrival as the final piece of the puzzle for Pep Guardiola and making the Premier League title theirs for the foreseeable future. With Ten Hag facing a huge task this summer, supporters will be eager to see some new arrivals sooner rather than later.
