Wake the Tiger: The mind-altering Bristol attraction you need to visit over Easter

Bristol is filled with quirky and interesting venues to visit, but perhaps none are as unique as Wake the Tiger. The interactive art exhibition first launched last summer.

But its location, in St Philips, means it is hidden off the beaten track and a surprising amount of locals and tourists still don't know it's there. Wake The Tiger is the brainchild of the creatives behind the hugely successful Boomtown Festival.

Upon entering, actors pretending to be sales assistants set you off on a story that will eventually lead you to a parallel dimension that is triggered by a radioactive tree.

From there you can walk around the dystopian future, which is made up of incredibly colourful and musical installations.

Each area has been curated as a sensory experience that heightens sound, sight and hearing as you trail through the imaginary world. It's comprised of 27 rooms each with a unique theme connected together through a maze.

And there are lots of secret passages and puzzles to work out along the way. A personal favourite was an opening bookcase that leads you into a secret study, where books stretch out for all eternity and you can snuggle into a Chesterfield in the corner of the dimly lit room.

My children were kept entertained for hours, walking around the different rooms and opening the hundreds of boxes that are left for kids to explore.

They were particularly amazed by a four-poster bed that had someone mysteriously moving underneath. There are also some mind-altering light displays and visual effects that make you feel like you're walking through space.

To finish, the cafe is just as quirky serving a range of hot and alcoholic drinks. It's pitched as a fantastical experience like no other, and it truly is that.

Wake The Tiger is located on Albert Road, adult tickets cost £18.50 and children £12.50. Carers can enter free of charge.
