In spite of the guest's comments on the service however, they said the food was 'up to Wagamama standards'.
Their review said: "We're usual users of Wagamama, from day one when they opened the York branch years ago.
"We know the food well and found it to be of the usual consistent Waga standards.
"The service however was poor to say the least. No hello and no-one even tried to say a farewell.
"It was impersonal, detached and serious, as if we weren't there, really."
A Guest Relations Manager for Wagamama replied to the TripAdvisor review to say: "We are so sorry to see this and we apologise for letting you down", before asking the customer to supply further details.
Despite the scathing criticism of the service, Wagamama on St Andrew Square generally garners favourable feedback. From over 430 reviews left on the travel review site, the restaurant has been given an average 4.5 star rating, with diners praising a 'great Asian experience'.
