WA Police say they are "likely" to charge four members of the Rebels bikie gang over the alleged bashing of a former member in the state's north.

Police allege the gang members assaulted the man in a trucking yard in Karratha's local industrial area on Wednesday night.

Officer in Charge of Karratha Detectives Jason Blaine said the man, who reported the assault to police, suffered broken ribs, a broken arm and facial injuries.

He was taken to hospital for treatment.

Senior Sergeant Blaine said about 20 officers were investigating at the scene, including the gang crime squad, who flew up from Perth on Friday morning.

"We're searching for forensic evidence in relation to the assault and anything else that we find that's not meant to be here," he said.

The ABC understands the land around the trucking yard is rented by a haulage company owned by a Rebels member.

Senior Sergeant Blaine said charges are expected to be laid later today.

"We currently have four Rebels members, three from Karratha and one that's up from Perth and we're conducting enquiries with them at the minute," he said.

"We haven't yet made the decision to charge but it's likely that we will possibly end up charging them by the end of the day."

Senior Sergeant Blaine said police were still investigating the reason behind the assault, but he understood the victim had recently been expelled from the gang.

He says the police are committed to dismantling outlaw motorcycle gangs in the region.

"We know that they operate with organised crime and they look to impact people around the town so anything we can do to disrupt or deter that is a win for the police," he said.

"It shows that police will take these matters seriously, we'll investigate any complaint we get, regardless of who it comes from or where it comes from, and we'll use all our resources including gang crime flying up to assist us to bring these matters to a conclusion."
