A ten-year-old First Nations girl, reported missing from Perth’s outer northern suburbs on Saturday, has been found.
Western Australia police said the girl was found at 7pm on Tuesday, five hours after a press conference appealing for help to find the missing child.
The girl had not been seen since early Saturday evening when police said she was seen leaving a home in Butler at about 5:45pm on 15 August.
She was last seen wearing black shorts and a black jumper and is described as being about 160cm tall, of medium build and has long brown hair with blonde ends and dark brown eyes.
Sign up for the Breaking News Australia emailPolice believed that she may have travelled up to 80km away and could be in the Kwinana, Leda, Parmelia or Wellard areas of Perth’s coastal outer suburbs.
Police had mistakenly alerted that she was located on Monday afternoon but several hours later they reissued an alert saying she was still missing.
Asst Supt Darren Hart of Mandurah district police told reporters on Tuesday that was concerned for her safety.
“We hold concerns for [the girl] due to her young age and believe she may be staying with family and associates,” he said at a media conference.
“It’s believed she may have travelled to the Wellard area and was possibly there across the weekend.
“We are concerned for her safety in that she is a 10-year-old girl who is making her own way in the world.”
