A senior Western Australian health official is to take charge of South Australia's public health system.
Robyn Lawrence has been appointed chief executive of SA Health, following a national and international recruitment process.
She replaces Chris McGowan who was let go after Labor won the March state election.
Dr Lawrence is currently the assistant director general in the Western Australian Department of Health overseeing workforce, safety and quality, and clinical excellence.
She will start work in SA on September 12.
Health Minister Chris Picton said Dr Lawrence would take charge at a pivotal time for SA Health with the government implementing a $2.4 billion program to improve the sector, including the recruitment of 400 more doctors and nurses.
"With experience running hospitals, frontline experience managing the pandemic response and a medical background, Dr Lawrence has a unique mix of skills and abilities to step into this important job," the minister said.
"I am confident she will provide strong leadership for SA Health and help to deliver on our government's ambitious agenda."
