A counsellor allegedly initiated sexual acts while counselling teenagers on the NSW Central Coast, police say.

The Bulahdelah man, 69, was arrested at his home on Thursday and charged with committing sexual assault offences at two counselling clinics in Tuggerah and Wyong between 2009 and 2014.

Police allege he initiated sexual acts while the children - then aged 14 to 17 - were receiving counselling.

He was charged with three counts of aggravated indecent assault, inciting aggravated indecency with a victim under 16 and sexual assault by forced self-manipulation.

An element of the latter charge is the accused threatened, coerced or intimidated a person to use an object on themselves.

The man faces a maximum penalty of 14 years' jail if convicted of that offence.

The man was remanded in custody ahead of an appearance in Forster Local Court on Friday.
