'Vulnerable' Scots man missing in Lanzarote after failing to board flight home

Loved ones of a Scots man missing in Lanzarote have issued a desperate appeal to trace him after he failed to board his flight home.

Robert Campbell, 44, had been enjoying his first holiday abroad when his pal Paddy, who he had travelled with, took unwell and had to go to hospital.

The pair were meant to return home together from Las Palmas on Thursday, May 11, but Paddy had to be checked out medically and receive fit to fly approval, with the pair being separated as a result.

Robert, from Uddingston, has been described as vulnerable by concerned friends who are desperate to trace him.

In a post on social media, a pal wrote: "Robert was last seen heading to Lanzarote airport on 11th May.

"He was on holiday with his best friend and they ended up separated due to Paddy taking unwell. Police Scotland initially stated Robert used his passport to enter Edinburgh but it has now been confirmed this is not the case by police, his friends and family.

"Please if you’re out there or members of any Lanzarote groups please share it.

"Robert is vulnerable and potentially lost in a foreign country this is his first time abroad so he maybe unsure of what he needs to do to get home."

Police Scotland confirmed Robert had been reported missing and said enquires to trace him were ongoing.
