Voters on the streets of Darlington have shared their disquiet about the candidates on offer.
On Tuesday, Liz Truss and Rishi Sunak spoke to Tory party members in the marginal seat, which turned blue at the last election.
Ms Truss' aborted regional pay board plan, which would have seen public service workers in the area forced to take a pay cut, had provoked anger.
