The vote to replace the Dublin City Council seat vacated by the late Anthony Flynn has been deferred again at the last minute.
The former CEO of Inner City Helping Homeless, which has since been wound up, was found dead in a house in East Wall in August last year.
A group of Independents have nominated a long-time worker within the charity, Geraldine Molloy, to fill Mr Flynn's seat.
The motion to co-opt Ms Molloy was on the agenda for Monday's full meeting but it was pulled at the last minute before the meeting began.
The group will propose the motion again in March.
It is up to the Council to fill the seat as Mr Flynn was an Independent Councillor who did not have a nominated replacement.
Mr Flynn was facing a garda investigation into two allegations of sexual misconduct at the time of his suicide.
Independent group member Councillor Cieran Perry told Dublin Live the motion will be brought forward next month.
He said: "We are extremely proud to be nominating Geraldine Molloy as she has a great record of community activism. We are trying to ensure there are more women in politics."
