VOLUNTEER rescue crew spend more than seven hours saving 15 people during frantic day on Loch Lomond.

The Loch Lomond Rescue Boat (LLRB) team responded to six separate incidents within a matter of hours on Sunday, after already completing a morning training exercise.

Their first callout came at 2.13pm after Police Scotland requested assistance for a 25ft vessel carrying nine people that had suffered engine failure.

As the crew prepared to launch, a second emergency was reported involving a jet ski with two people on board, stranded near Loch Lomond Golf Club due to battery issues.

Volunteers prioritised the larger vessel, which was drifting near Torrinch, securing a tow and returning it safely to Aldochlay.

The team then assisted national park rangers in towing the jet ski back to the Duncan Mills slipway in Balloch.

A third call came in at 4.10pm for another jet ski, this time with an adult and child on board.

The craft was taking on water due to hull damage and was deemed unsafe to tow.

The child was taken aboard the rescue boat, and volunteers escorted the jet ski to Cashel Campsite before ensuring both occupants returned safely to Balloch.

Around 6pm, the crew was alerted to a broken-down vessel near Port Nellan but were stood down when the occupant made it to nearby moorings safely.

Just minutes later, at 6.08pm, they were called to a sailboat drifting toward rocks in Millarochy Bay in strong westerly winds.

Working with national park rangers, the crew towed the vessel to safety and returned it to its mooring.

On their return journey, the volunteers spotted a speedboat using just a single paddle.

Upon investigation, they found it had broken down and towed it back to the Moss of Balloch slipway.

The six callouts totalled more than seven hours on the water.

Following the incidents, Loch Lomond Rescue Boat issued safety advice to those planning time on the loch.
