Volta a Portugal organisers confirm death of Finlay Tarling after 'serious accident' during stage 8

Finlay Tarling at British Cycling 2024 Induction Day at The National Cycling Centre.

Stage 8 of the Volta a Portugal was neutralised with 23km remaining after a 'serious accident' and the death of a rider, later confirmed to be Finlay Tarling (NSN Development Team) according to race organisers.

The neutralisation was followed by an official announcement that a rider had been killed while off the back of the peloton. The nature of the incident has not been officially confirmed.
