Vodafone and Three to combine stores in major high street overhaul

VodafoneThree has announced a transformation plan for its stores which will introduce multi-branded shops - (VodafoneThree/PA)

Mobile provider Vodafone Three has announced a significant overhaul of its retail estate, which will see the two brands combine under one roof following their £15 billion merger.

The telecoms giant has pledged its commitment to the UK high street, vowing to maintain a presence in every town where it currently operates.

However, the transformation plan is expected to lead to some consolidation, potentially resulting in a small number of store closures in locations where both Vodafone and Three currently have neighbouring premises.

The specific sites affected remain undisclosed, with changes anticipated to unfold over several years. Crucially, the company has confirmed there are no planned redundancies linked to this shift towards dual-branded stores.

Vodafone has enjoyed higher sales in the UK as a result of its long-awaited tie-up with Three (VodafoneThree/PA)

VodafoneThree is set to invest tens of millions of pounds into the programme, aiming to establish the largest retail footprint of any mobile network operator in the UK.

This investment will enhance the level of support and advice available in stores, introducing new services such as ‘Fix & Go by Vodafone’ for additional repair options. F

Flagship stores are planned for major cities, including London, Manchester, Edinburgh, Birmingham, and Cardiff.

Jon Shaw, consumer operations director at Vodafone Three, commented: "We know how important stores like ours are to the health of the high street and the communities which rely on them. From shopping devices, seeking support from our experts or getting their phone repaired, we are proud to serve our customers where they are and reaffirm our commitment to the UK high street. The stores will help bring our brands to more people, offering customers more choice and greater value, as we build the UK’s best network."
