Vivienne Westwood's granddaughter pays tribute to late designer with sweet post

Dame Vivienne Westwood's granddaughter, Cora Corré, has paid tribute to the late designer - and walked in the latest show for the fashion house.

Taking to instagram on Saturday, the model shared an adorable throwback photograph of herself as a child alongside the iconic fashion designer who passed away in December last year, aged 81.

The image showed Cora as a child wearing a dramatic dress while looking up lovingly at Dave Vivienne - who was flashing a proud smile for the camera.

Cora piad tribute to Dame Vivienne as she prepared to take to the catwalk later in the day, writing touching words alongside the image.

She wrote: “Someone said we walk the same the other day. We both stride that’s for sure (I stride out of awkwardness)

“Your strides only fierceness and grace through everything.”

Cora then subsequently took to the catwalk to close out the latest Vivienne Westwood fashion show - wearing a white lace outfit.

She was joined on the runway by Dame Vivienne’s widower husband, Andreas Kronthaler, who walked alongside Cora wearing a kilt and flowing cloak.

Dame Vivienne was a titan of British fashion - unleashing eye-catching outfits, designs and jewellery from the 1950s until her death.

A pioneer of the punk movement, the fashion designer was also a vocal advocate of sustainability, highlighted the urgency to combat climate change, and was a supporter of freedom of speech.

The star’s life was celebrated at a memorial last month which drew family, friends and famous faces - with actress Elle Fanning among those attending.

The 24-year-old told the Mirror after she left Southwark Cathedral, that she had known Vivienne since she was 16.

"Vivienne was such an incredible person and it was so evident that she touched so many lives and her granddaughter spoke so beautifully about her activism and she's left this legacy behind that we all have to pick up the slack and do the work that she started."

Asked what the designer's legacy is, the Neon Demon star said: "She's a freedom fighter, she's an activist, she's someone that saw the good in humanity and people."

Elle went on: "I was lucky enough to get to wear a lot of her designs, we collaborated on clothes together.

She added that Vivienne was a "really special person, there's no one like her."

"She's cut from a different cloth, as Helena Bonham Carter said."

And speaking to the Mirror briefly as he left the cathedral, Sir Bob Geldof, 71, said the memorial was "exactly like Vivienne would have wanted. It was charming, moving and radical."
