A 28-year-old Virginia mother, Mamta Kafle Bhatt, has been missing for over three weeks. Her husband, Naresh Bhatt, is facing a felony charge of prohibition against concealment of a body in connection with her disappearance.
Court documents reveal that Naresh Bhatt is accused of killing his wife inside their home and dragging her body outside. Authorities conducted a search warrant on the couple's residence, where evidence was found indicating that Mamta's body was inside the home before being moved outside.
Although Naresh Bhatt has not been formally charged with murder, a preliminary criminal complaint states that he murdered Mamta Bhatt around July 30, 2024. The complaint also mentions the recovery of digital and forensic evidence consistent with her death.
During his arraignment, the judge decided to keep Naresh Bhatt held without bail. He is scheduled to appear in court for a bond hearing on Monday morning.
Naresh Bhatt is a former US Army Reserve automated logistics specialist who served from June 2017 to February 2024. According to an Army spokeswoman, he held the rank of specialist and had no deployments during his time in the Army.
