Virgin Atlantic has a little surprise for passengers guilty of 'pinching' its popular salt and pepper shakers.
Those who have not flown with Richard Branson's airline may not know about the clamour around the small metal dispensers.
The airline hands out mini salt and pepper shakers with its meals which have become something of a collector's item, Daily Star reported.
The tiny shakers served with melas are shaped just like small planes with wings, tail and feet, and come in gold, silver or black.
They've quickly become a popular feature onboard Virgin flights and unsurprisingly, some people want to take them home as a memento.
Some of the little pepper pots are even listed on eBay – for £25 a pop.
However, Virgin Atlantic has a little surprise in the design of their mini plane shakers, meaning you’re not so likely to get away with nicking the cute pots.
Or, at least, your pals will all know about your sticky fingers.
Posting on Twitter, Virgin Atlantic shared a photo of the silver set of shakers in front of a Virgin Atlantic plane on the runway.
The tweet read: “Caught red handed? If you’ve walked away from one of our flights with a 'new' salt and pepper shaker, take a peek at their feet and you’ll be in for a surprise.”
Hundreds of fans liked the post with many saying they had nabbed their own set when flying with the airline.
But, one shocked commenter asked: “What’s the surprise about their feet?”
It seems that if you turn the salt and pepper pots over you’ll see a hidden inscription on the base.
The words read: “Pinched from Virgin Atlantic”.
In the comments, holidaymakers revealed the hidden message wouldn’t stop them from taking the cute salt and pepper shakers.
One person quipped: “I will be walking away with these next week.”
While another commented: “I might or might not have black, silver and gold. Looking forward to ‘borrowing’ some more in under five weeks!”
“I have some,” added a third. “Best part is the ‘pinched from’.”
A keen collector said: “I’m still missing the ones from upper class if someone wants to pinch me some!”
While one woman explained: “My mum showed me these from her recent flight and I told her to turn them over (to read the feet, not to the police).”
