Liverpool FC star Virgil van Dijk recognises what Manchester United signing Frenkie de Jong from Barcelona would mean for his club and the entire Premier League.
De Jong has been identified as a priority target for Erik ten Hag and figures in the Nou Camp boardroom are willing to cash-in on the Netherlands international for the right price. United are weighing up the swoop as part of a wider rebuild under Ten Hag.
The 24-year-old remains held in high regard by the Catalan giants, though, while his elite standing within the game needs no greater testimony. However, the United target and his worth has been further underlined after he helped the Netherlands to an eye-catching victory over Belgium on Friday night.

While it was former United striker Memphis Depay who stole the headlines in Brussels by scoring two goals in that Nations League opener - which finished 4-1 to the Netherlands - it was De Jong who was picked out for high praise by national team manager Louis van Gaal during his post-match interview.
Van Gaal's comments were followed up by some glowing praise from Van Dijk, too, as the Liverpool defender sent out a clear warning as to what De Jong would offer United from next season if he signs on the dotted line. Van Dijk said: "Bergwijn was incredible, Berghuis too. Memphis was excellent. Frenkie, he always plays good in my eyes."
After overcoming Belgium in such compelling fashion, the Netherlands continue their Group A4 charge with games against Wales (twice) and Poland before the June break ends.
