As a result, the ICU at LG Hospital often runs at full capacity, and patients are sometimes advised to seek admission at other medical facilities when no beds are available.
The viral video shows some resident doctors either resting or asleep on ICU beds. In one part of the clip, a resident doctor is seen attending to patients, while another appears to be resting on a nearby bed. The visuals have triggered public concern and administrative scrutiny.
Following the incident, the hospital superintendent has been directed to conduct a detailed inquiry. Additionally, the head of the concerned department has been issued a notice seeking an explanation. Authorities will also investigate how many resident doctors were resting during duty hours.
AMC officials have stated that strict action will be taken if the explanations provided by the doctors are found unsatisfactory.
The incident has added to a series of recent developments in Ahmedabad, including cases involving Gujaratis stranded in Gulf countries and a bomb threat reported at the Passport Office.
