On Tuesday afternoon around 3:30 PM, a family traveling on the Dhaka-bound Titas commuter train found themselves in a terrifying situation. The train, already running nearly 90 minutes late, had just arrived at the station when the family realized they had missed their stop. In a sudden rush to disembark before departure, panic took over. The father, carrying his infant son, hurried toward the exit. Amid the chaos, the unthinkable happened—the baby slipped from his arms and fell onto the tracks just as the train began to move.

What followed was captured on video and quickly spread across social media. Without hesitation, the father jumped onto the tracks after his child. He grabbed the baby and pressed him tightly against the platform wall, making himself as small as possible. According to Sayed Ahmed, Officer-in-Charge of Bhairab Railway Police Station, the survival of both father and child was “nothing short of divine mercy.”
He also used the moment to issue a strong warning: passengers should never attempt to board or disembark from moving trains and must remain vigilant in crowded, high-risk environments like railway platforms.
The warning is backed by sobering statistics. Between 2015 and 2025, over 10,000 people lost their lives in train-related accidents across Bangladesh—many due to rushing, inattention, or unsafe boarding practices.
