Violent thug poured bleach on half-naked girlfriend in rage over dog weeing on bed

A violent thug poured bleach over his half-naked girlfriend in a rage over dog wee.

Liam Gordge, 22, claimed he does not deal well with arguments and confrontations and repeatedly lashed out at his partner.

He was jailed for a horrific campaign of domestic violence which saw him pour bleach over his terrified girlfriend and urinate on her coat.

His partner said he had became aggressive and controlling during their time together and she became a shell of the person she used to be.

DevonLive reports Gordge admitted a series of assaults against the woman in a domestic setting.

The most serious involved him pouring bleach over her head after the dog urinated on the bed.

Gordge pleaded guilty at court to assault causing actual bodily harm; four charges of battery and one of criminal damage (BPM MEDIA)

The judge said the offence had a 'tone of degradation'.

Gordge, of no fixed abode, was jailed for a year and nine months at Exeter Crown Court.

The court heard he become abusive soon after the pair got together in 2020.

The victim initially feared telling police about what was happening, but eventually came forward in November of last year.

She said they were at a relative's house when Gordge flew into a rage because the dog urinated on the bed.

Instead of using household bleach to clean the mess he stood over his partially-dressed partner and poured the contents over her head and body.

Some of the liquid went in her mouth and she was left with irritation to her skin and trouble sleeping.

About a month later an argument between the pair ended with Gordge putting her coat in the toilet and urinating on it.

The victim was also left bruised after being slapped by him during an argument in October.

The spree of violence continued when he grabbed and pushed her on the stairs, causing her to fall and damage her arm. He did not check on whether she was hurt.

The final confrontation happened when Gordge pulled her to the floor by the hair and locked the front door when she threatened to call police.

He eventually returned with the key and she went to a neighbour's for help.

Gordge initially told police the victim may have caused the injuries herself due to mental health problems.

He pleaded guilty at court to assault causing actual bodily harm; four charges of battery and one of criminal damage.

The victim said she had endured her ex-partner rages because she feared a backlash, but his behaviour, she said, 'tore me down as a person' and unable to lead a normal life.

Mr Michael Brown, defending, said Gordge was suitable for a community order and rehabilitation and said the relationship was toxic.

But Judge David Evans said the offences were too serious for anything other than prison.

He said: "This amounted, over a good number of weeks, to a campaign of violence against her and there is no alternative to custody."
