In-demand Vinicius Souza is set to lose a suitor after Fenerbahce were met with a "negative response" in their chase to land the midfield enforcer from Lommel.
And that could be good news for Celtic as they remain keen on the 23-year-old, who is also attracting interest from Dutch heavyweights Ajax and PSV. Souza has been putting the work in at Manchester City's training base in recent days, linking up with team-mate Diego Rosa in the process. Current employers Lommel are part of the City Group.
Reports on Saturday stated Fener had a £4.3m bid rejected, however, multiple updates in Turkey state the offer was in the region of £3.6m. But the bid from Jorge Jesus' side was not warmly received and now the Turkish media believe alternative midfield options will now be identified.
Celtic have a long history of working closely the City Group and incoming recruitment chief Mark Lawwell spent almost 10 years in Manchester.
The Premiership champions have landed the likes of Jeremie Frimpong, Patrick Roberts, Dedryck Boyata, Olivier Ntcham, Jason Denayer and John Guidetti over the past decade.

Ange Postecoglou is has already secured the signings of Ben Siegrist and Cameron Carter-Vickers this summer.
