Vincent Kompany must demand his own £45m William Saliba in Daniel Levy Tottenham manager talks

Tottenham face countless huge decisions this summer. Arguably the one of utmost priority is Daniel Levy's next manager choice with the Spurs chairman looking to welcome permanent manager number five of the last four-and-a-half years.

Key decisions must also be made on the future of certain players at the club including Hugo Lloris, Harry Kane and Eric Dier. All three see their contracts expire in 2024 with extension talks not currently taking place which count hint at possible sales in the summer to create funds for the next era at Spurs.

As well as possible outgoings and contract negotiations, incomings are also a clear priority with additions still clearly needed in certain positions. However, with no manager instilled and managing director Fabio Paratici resigning, who exactly is making the decisions is unknown.

Levy will of course have a strong say in numerous departments, but moves do need to be made to bring in a manager and some form of sporting director, and quickly. One option in the managerial market is Burnley boss Vincent Kompany who is said to have already held talks with Spurs and Chelsea.

After a dogged and determined style developed under Sean Dyche, Burnley have since become a free-flowing and attacking team based on Kompany's ideas and methods. Following their relegation last season, an immediate return to the Premier League was confirmed last month with the Clarets sealing promotion with seven games still to play, such has been their dominance this season.

Kompany would be a brilliant appointment by Tottenham, but it is not currently clear whether he would be prepared to leave Turf Moor. If he does decide to make the move and talks enter an advanced stage, there should be one clear demand he takes into those negotiations.

A new centre-back is desperately needed at Spurs and Crystal Palace star Marc Guehi is the perfect option for a number of reasons. Firstly, his composure and leadership skills would make him the perfect partner to Cristian Romero who has struggled as of late, making a number of rash decisions which have led to more goals being conceded.

Secondly, despite being an English international, as per The Daily Mail, a bid in the region of £45 million could see the Seagulls sanction an exit this summer. However, that price could rise with his performances improving under Roy Hodgson and Arsenal also showing a keen interest.

The final reason why Spurs must go all out for the 22-year-old is hinted at above. Stopping north London rivals Arsenal from acquiring a talented centre-back to improve their team is vital if Spurs hope to close the gap in quality heavily extended by the Gunners this season.

Therefore, based on a number of reasons this transfer just makes sense. Guehi's capabilities contrast perfectly with Romero and the duo could certainly build a partnership that is close to the levels achieved by Gabriel Magalhaes and William Saliba at Emirates Stadium.

The Brazilian defender has struggled at points during his three years at the Gunners, but when next to Saliva he is at his very best. There is also no better option than Guehi available at that price, and under Kompany who is one of the greatest central defenders to ever grace the Premier League, he would only improve and a consistent spot in the England squad would likely follow.
