Vincent Kompany makes huge final decision on Chelsea and Tottenham move as private chat revealed

Burnley boss Vincent Kompany has been heavily linked with a move to both Chelsea and Tottenham to fill their vacant managerial roles for their long-term projects. The former Manchester City defender has impressed since taking over the Lancashire club last year, bouncing back to the Premier League with ease on their first time of trying.

Along the way, the Belgian has managed to completely transform their style of play, moving away from a more traditional mid-to-low block with more emphasis on defending, to playing a progressive possession based approach. It comes as little surprise that he should be linked with some big jobs as a result.

"I don't waste answers on my future," Kompany said just a few weeks ago when asked about other jobs. "I said it on day one of my job here at Burnley, that one day in anticipation that there might be a question like this so crack on. I am focusing on Reading and the next games."

While the race is very much still open for both the Tottenham and Chelsea jobs at this stage, it appears as though Kompany has made his decision. A report from the Sun claims that the Burnley boss has assured his staff that he will be in charge of the Clarets next season for their Premier League return.

It is said that the manager has spoken with his staff in private conversations and has informed them of his decision to stay at Turf Moor. It means that for Chelsea, their search for a successor to Graham Potter continues, with Mauricio Pochettino the current favourite to take the job permanently as their season fizzles out.

As for Spurs, their priority appears to be finishing in the top four before major decisions are made, with interim Cristian Stellini dismissed after a humiliating 6-1 defeat to Newcastle, resulting in Ryan Mason taking the reigns.
