Vincent Kompany spoke about Manchester City's FA Cup scare in 2011 after his Burnley side drew 0-0 with Ipswich Town in the FA Cup fourth round on Saturday.
The Championship leaders were unable to find a way past their third-tier opponents, which means the Clarets will welcome Kieran McKenna's side to Turf Moor for a replay. The draw with Ipswich led Kompany to discuss playing in the FA Cup during his time with City - with the Belgian expressing how special the competition is.
In 2011, the Blues clashed with then third-tier side Notts County. Kompany started on the bench in the cup tie, but the likes of Yaya Toure and Patrick Viera were all named in the starting XI. City needed a late Eden Dzeko goal to force a 1-1 draw and a replay - with the Premier League side coming out 6-0 winners the second time round.

City went on to win the FA Cup that season, and many feel it was the catalyst for the success that followed in recent years. The Blues did not concede another goal on their way to the final as they beat Stoke City at Wembley.
Kompany, who came on in the game against Notts County, referenced the game in 2011 as he discussed the fine margins of the competition following Burnley's stalemate with McKenna's men on Saturday.
"They [Ipswich] were well set up, some good patterns on the ball, good intensity to go and press and then, with the support of the home crowd and with it being a cup tie, we expected a tough game," said Kompany. "That's why I'm actually happy, and I'm never usually happy if we don't win. I'm looking forward to taking this game back to Turf Moor.
"It's a good result. I've never known anyone do well in the cup without these types of games and without these types of moments. There was Notts County away (in 2011), a late header from Dzeko to take it into a replay. That's how tight the margins are. This game was credit to English football; a third division team playing a second division team, there won't be other countries where you see 30,000 fans turn up for a fourth round tie in the FA Cup. There's no other country where this happens.
"It was great for me to show this type of environment to the players we've signed because they'll understand that the game in this country is different to anywhere else. I've known it because I've been in this country for a long time, but it's a unique thing you've got going here. It's pretty special."
Kompany has impressed since taking charge of the Clarets, with Burnley having won 18 of their 28 Championship matches so far this season. They have a five-point advantage over second-placed Sheffield United, and a 17-point lead over Middlesbrough in third.
