Villagers say their have been stripped of their independence because they cannot get on and off the kerbs safely. The residents are calling for a dropped kerb to be fitted to make it easier for disabled people to get around the village.
One villager, Robert Morgan, said he asked the council for a dropped kerb two years ago. But road bosses say they are unable to create one due to “engineering problems”. The 52-year-old has been diagnosed with hereditary neuropathy with pressure palsies (HNPP), which can cause numbness, muscle weakness, and pain in the limbs.
The condition is effecting Mr Morgan’s walking ability and he now uses a mobility scooter. He said he couldn’t see why the council wouldn’t be able to construct a dropped kerb or create an alternative that would be accessible to disabled people.
