A seaside village known for having one of the best beaches in the UK has now become famous for its notorious Pontins resort that was branded "filthy" by disappointed holidaymakers.
Guests who stayed at Pontins Camber Sands in East Sussex said they had a negative experience due to "abysmal conditions" at the resort, with one finding poo in their room and another claiming that their window was so dirty that they could not see the outside.
Jason, 39, travelled across the UK from Derbyshire to enjoy a few days by the seaside with his mother - but said that he was disappointed by the resort, which he described as "Camber Slums".
He told the Express: "We went to the beach a lot just to avoid the resort."
The holidaymaker claimed his chalet was "dirty" with an "unclean bathroom floor and faeces down the toilet".
He added than when he asked for his room to be cleaned, it took about half an hour for a cleaner to arrive - and claimed she only gave it a "quick wipe down".
Another visitor from Kent who stayed at the resort with her husband and three children aged two, 10 and 15, said she "could have cried" when they arrived as the park was "disgusting".
The mum said: "We only managed to stay one night. The apartment was disgusting, dated and dangerous. Windows were so dirty we couldn't see out of them.
"The grounds were shocking, grass not been mowed in months by the looks of things. Thistles in the kids' play area."
Glynis Shaw, from Hampshire, said the resort was a "total health hazard", claiming that at one point she and her friends woke up to find a "puddle on the lounge" they believe came from the light fitting.
The guest also described her stay as "filthy and unswept" with unclean work surfaces, wardrobes and mattresses.
