Aston Villa have spoiled Manchester United's perfect preseason tour of the Asia Pacific after snatching a late equaliser and securing a deserved 2-2 draw.

Coming off wins over Liverpool in Singapore and Melbourne Victory and Crystal Palace in Melbourne, United took a 2-0 first-half lead through Jadon Sancho and an own goal from Matty Cash.

Leon Bailey pegged one back early in the second for Villa but despite seizing control of the half his side was continuously frustrated in their attempts to find a leveller.

That was until Calum Chambers' header with literally the last touch of the game beat David de Gea and ensured the Villans remained undefeated in their preseason.

There had been concerns that torrential rain would render Perth Stadium's surface unplayable after it hosted a fixture between Palace and Leeds the night prior.

But a late inspection cleared the pitch and despite it continuing to degrade as the night went on, 90 minutes was completed in front of 58,228 fans.

Bypassing the sodden surface, Harry Maguire had the game's first significant chance when he forced Emiliano Martinez into a sharp save off a Luke Shaw corner in the sixth minute.

Duelling chances followed before a flowing move forward in the 25th eventually saw Shaw tee Sancho up to volley home the opener.

It was a deserved lead that was doubled in the 42nd when United broke in transition and Cash inadvertently blocked a Marcus Rashford shot into his own net.

Villa responded minutes into the second stanza when substitute Bailey collected the ball on the left, drove inside and placed a shot into the bottom corner of the net.

The Jamaican went close to equalising several times as the game continued but ultimately turned provider by floating in the corner that Chambers headed home to force a draw.
