News officially broke about Davenport’s intention to sign with the team on the first day of the legal tampering period last Monday, and details about his new contract were released over the weekend. Still, it seems that the exact language of the deal, and some of the finer points of the structure of the contract took some time to figure out, but the saga seems to have come to an end.
The importance of this signing can’t be understated for Minnesota, and the wait for everything to become officially official should prove to be worth the hassle. Davenport was a blue chip prospect when he entered the draft as a collegiate prospect, and has a track record of production that was unrivaled in the 2023 free agent class.
